Ungt Entreprenørskap Akershus is looking for jury members for Pitchorama on November 5th at OsloMet in Kjeller.
This is where student businesses come to test their business ideas in a pitch competition before a jury. Afterwards, the students receive mentoring from the local business community.
Pitchorama in Nedre Romerike has already received registrations from nearly 100 student businesses from the upper secondary schools.
"This means we also need many volunteers from the business community to serve on the jury and act as mentors," says Ingrid Lund, Senior Advisor for upper secondary education at Ungt Entreprenørskap Akershus (Young Entrepreneurship Akershus).
What does a jury member do?
The students are divided into groups of about 10 student businesses. The pitch competition challenges the students to have the courage to stand on stage, take the plunge, and sell their idea.
The jury selects two winners in each group: Best Business Idea and Best Pitch, based on specific criteria. A jury meeting with Young Entrepreneurship is held before the event starts. Participating in the jury requires no special preparation.
Jury members participate for half a day (before or after lunch). Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
What does a mentor do?
Mentors provide students with tips on how to move from idea to action and assist the student businesses by offering advice, constructive criticism, and answering questions. The mentoring can cover business ideas, business models, marketing, networking, or anything else the students might be wondering about.
Each student business receives up to 10 minutes of mentoring. Mentors must be able to engage with the students in a positive way while pushing them to move forward.
Mentors must be available for a full day. Lunch is provided.
