In April 2025, Green Visits Oslo Region welcomed a delegation from the CREATE Energy Center at Madison Area Technical College (USA) for a two-day professional programme in Lillestrøm

The programme brought together 16 participants for technical visits, expert presentations, and dialogue with Norwegian professionals working on green solutions.

The delegation was officially welcomed by Mayor Kjartan Berland, who shared insights from the region and highlighted a unique historical milestone, the first email sent from the United States to Norway was received at Kjeller in Lillestrøm, as the first European country. This story underscored the area’s long-standing role in technology and innovation.

Through the visit, participants gained first-hand insight into Norway’s approach to sustainable development and strengthened connections with local actors.

As part of the programme, the delegation visited the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) at Kjeller. There, they gained insight into Norway’s leading research and innovation in sustainable energy systems. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore how advanced research is translated into practical solutions for the green transition.
