Students from Lillestrøm videregående skole jumped at the chance when they were offered the opportunity to visit Imperial College London.
The four students – Olav Hilstad, Max Jørgen Zimmermann Iversen, Minh-Duc Nguyen, and Petter Renton – won an innovation competition organized by Kunnskapsbyen for NODE60. The winners received a trip to London, with travel and accommodation. All expences were covered by Romerike Sparebank.

Ragnhild Strand, a teacher of technology and research methods at Lillestrøm videregående skole, accompanied the students on the trip and says the students experienced some intensely educational days.
– We are very pleased with this initiative. I hope this can be repeated for many years to come, she says.
Project manager Even Sand at NODE60 cannot promise that, but he notes that this was a valuable activity for both the students and the teacher.
Insight creates motivation
The Lillestrøm students were placed in separate groups, where they worked alongside students from local schools – with everything conducted in English.
– They were probably a bit "brain-fried" from speaking English all day. But they were truly motivated to participate in the work so that their groups would do well. Everyone also contributed to the group presentations in front of a large audience, she says.
Ragnhild Strand says the students learned a great deal about the school systems in other European countries.
For her own part, she also got a lot out of the stay.
– I have taken a lot away from London, not least regarding design processes, which I will use in my own teaching, she says.
Exciting and educational days
The students at Lillestrøm videregående skole would like to thank Romerike Sparebank and Kunnskapsbyen for the opportunity to visit Imperial College in London and experience their innovation lab.
They have sent a travelogue about their stay in London from October 11th to 14th, where they share their experiences and their work in workshops with other European youths.
