Industrial company Normeka AS has been awarded the Romerike Business Award for its targeted focus on circular and sustainable export.

The award was presented at the Lillestrøm Conference on June 4th. The conference, which is organized by Kunnskapsbyen, celebrated its tenth anniversary this year.

Normeka supplies advanced aluminum products. Since its inception in 1980, the company has supplied approach lights and antennas for landing systems at thousands of airports worldwide.

This unique manufacturing company stands out with strong financial results, balanced with sustainable operations and social responsibility. Normeka is a worthy winner of the Romerike Business Award 2026, emphasized jury leader and Mayor of Lillestrøm, Kjartan Berland.

– Normeka achieves a 'very good' rating for solvency, liquidity, and profitability, and stands out as a robust and long-term value creator in the region, said Berland during the award ceremony.

Emotional Business Leader

Marianita Hustveit from Innovation Gardermoen and Inger-Lise M. Nøstvik from Kunnskapsbyen presented the award to Sigurd Nilsen and apprentice Emma Jørgensen.

– Thank you very much. We are humbled to receive this award – in a region with so many excellent and professional companies, said a proud business leader.

He dedicated the award to his employees who come to work every day and make a very important contribution. Even during their holidays, they step up if needed.

– If a customer from abroad calls needing a part, those who are nearby go to work, pack it up, and send it out into the world.

Industrial Role Model

From its headquarters in Rømskog, Normeka has evolved into a high-tech industrial company with international competitiveness. The company boasts solid growth and strong operating results. The jury highlighted the industrial enterprise as a robust and long-term player in the region's business community.

– The company also distinguishes itself through its systematic efforts in competence development and recruitment, said Kjartan Berland.

Normeka holds a clear position in circular and sustainable industry. A central part of its operations involves the use of aluminum, a material that can be recycled indefinitely with low energy consumption.

Through advanced and robotic production, Normeka has established secure jobs and local value creation. This cornerstone company has strengthened the local community and helps reduce commuting.

Attracting Young Talent

Competence development and recruitment are key focus areas for the company. Apprentices are given an integrated role in the business, with close supervision from experienced, skilled mentors. This ensures high professional quality and provides young people with a solid entry into the workforce.

Normeka actively works to attract new talent. In this effort, the company views increasing the proportion of women in technology fields as a crucial prerequisite.

The jury highlights Normeka as a clear example of how modern industrial workplaces can be developed in rural areas – combining global reach, local roots, and a distinctly sustainable profile.

– The company stands out as a worthy winner of this year's Romerike Business Award, said Kjartan Berland.

The jury for the Romerike Business Award has consisted of Mayor Kjartan Berland of Lillestrøm Municipality, CEO Remy Skogstrand of Innovation Gardermoen, and CEO Inger-Lise M. Nøstvik of Kunnskapsbyen.
