Project managers Even Sand and Jon Eriksen look forward to embarking on the NODE60 Energilab development project.
Both business projects, "Energilab for energy resilience in business" and a system for faster business development, have been granted support by Akershus County Council.
Kunnskapsbyen has been awarded funding for two innovation projects through the Akershus Innovation Program, which supports the NODE60 initiative.
The go-ahead has been given to launch "Energilab – business pilots for energy resilience in business." The energy project aims to reduce the risk of operational disruptions, provide better cost control, and increase operational reliability for businesses.
Preparedness and Value Creation
"Through a pilot program, the partnership will test and demonstrate solutions for mobile energy, flexibility, and energy resilience in Akershus," says project manager Jon Eriksen at Kunnskapsbyen.
Here, Kunnskapsbyen collaborates with highly engaged partners who are convinced that this initiative holds significant socio-economic benefits. It will demonstrate how distributed energy solutions can reduce peak loads, strengthen operations, and open new revenue opportunities in the energy and reserve markets.
"New energy services, flexibility solutions, and market participation open up new business models, investments, and jobs within the energy, technology, and service industries," he says.
Kunnskapsbyen has also received the green light to start developing "The Akershus Model for Establishment." The project will develop and test a common model for a more coordinated, predictable, and efficient handling of inquiries from businesses considering establishment, relocation, re-establishment, or expansion in the region.
Faster establishment processes
The project partnership, led by Kunnskapsbyen, also includes Lillestrøm Municipality, Rælingen Municipality, IFE Eiendom, Linstow, Øie Eiendom, and Lillestrøm Delta.
– Together, we will develop and test a common working method for how businesses considering establishment, relocation, re-establishment, or capacity expansion in the region can be met in a more coordinated, faster, and more predictable manner, says Marit Thomas, project manager for Kunnskapsbyen.
This will ensure that the interaction between municipalities, property developers, knowledge institutions, and support agencies becomes more decision-oriented.
– The project will contribute to more jobs, increased innovation, and higher value creation by strengthening the region's ability to attract and further develop businesses with growth potential, she says.
When more inquiries can be more quickly converted into concrete establishment and expansion processes, the foundation for investments and collaboration with knowledge institutions and internationally competitive business environments is strengthened.
