The innovation district NODE60 is the new regional public-private partnership for innovation and value creation in Romerike.
Akershus County Council joins as a partner in the new innovation district.
"This is an investment in future innovation," said County Councillor Lars Salvesen when the initiative was announced on Monday, January 19, at Kunnskapsbyen, in Lillestrøm.
To unleash enormous potential
Romerike has a high concentration of professional communities in health and pharmaceuticals, energy and technology, as well as security and emergency preparedness – with strong international connections. It is precisely this potential that Akershus County Council is now choosing to invest in.
So far, NODE60 has gathered 40 stakeholders from business, academia, research, and the public sector, who will leverage the region's strengths in health, energy, technology, and emergency preparedness.
– NODE60 is a concrete step to connect knowledge, capital, and the market, explains project manager Even Sand from Kunnskapsbyen.

Regional Competitiveness
Leading knowledge environments, combined with political will and ambitious businesses, will strengthen adaptability, value creation, and regional competitiveness.
"I believe 2026 is the year when the pieces fall into place. This doesn't mean we'll be finished building the innovation district, but that the pieces we need to get started are finally in place," says Lillestrøm Mayor Kjartan Berland.
OsloMet and IFE emphasize that the initiative will shorten and speed up the path from research to application – and make Romerike more attractive for both students and businesses.
A crucial connecting hub
The decision to expand OsloMet in Lillestrøm will give Romerike a new, powerful boost in competence and research.
"Together with NODE60, we are creating a structure that connects education, research, and working life more closely – and makes the region far more attractive for students, businesses, and societal development alike," says Christen Krogh, Rector at OsloMet.
The Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) is committed to gathering strong professional communities to create solutions with great societal value.
"NODE60 provides us with a crucial connecting platform that links us more closely with business, the public sector, and other knowledge communities. This means that research and expertise can be more quickly put into use, scaled, and have significance far beyond the region," says Division Director Siw-Hege Gundersen.
