NAF Romerike works for a safer and easier traffic day for everyone who lives, lives and travels in the region.

NAF offers practical traffic training and activities that provide peace of mind in everyday life. The goal is simple: to make it easier for everyone to travel safely. NAF wants everyone to get on well — regardless of age, experience or mode of travel.

We are a voluntary organisation with a strong local commitment. As Norway's largest membership organisation, we work for everyone who travels in traffic — from soft road users to drivers of motorised vehicles. Everyone who travels to Romerike deserves to return home safely. This is what drives us, every single day,” says Liv Marie Bendheim, General Manager NAF Dept. Romerike.

Romerike is a large and diverse area with both a densely populated center and scattered settlement. Therefore, NAF closely monitors local traffic conditions and works for good solutions throughout the region.

“We are concerned with how areas are developed, and in holistic solutions that take care of all road users. Good land use and thoughtful traffic solutions must be seen in context and coordinated to create safety, accessibility, well-being and a future-oriented infrastructure,” she says.

Broad road safety work

The work spans a wide range of road safety, with everything from reflexes to bicycle checks at elementary schools, professional evenings, stands with “Veltepetter” and “Bråstoppen”, and courses such as “Tähk på glatta” on the practice track at Fet.

“We are in the beginning of VR based training, and have started NAF Ung with a group of engaged youth. All with the aim of preventing accidents and creating safer road users,” Bendheim points out.

As a voluntary organisation, NAF prides itself on its strong local commitment. They work closely with schools, municipalities, emergency services and the local community to create safer traffic environments. In addition, there is a vibrant and active membership community, not least through NAF MC Romerike, which is a key resource for the motorcycle community in the region. They have a full schedule of activities throughout the year, where both driving pleasure and initiatives such as Safe on the MC are central.

Better accessibility

In addition to the practical safety work, NAF also works on policy and local traffic conditions. We address challenges in the municipalities we cover at Romerike, and work with local authorities to find good solutions that provide safer school roads, better accessibility and a more sustainable mobility pattern.

Behind all this lies a tremendous effort from volunteers who spend time and effort every week because they sincerely care about everyone getting out safely.

“It's very social to be part of the lion family, as we call ourselves,” Bendheim says.

For NAF, road safety and mobility are not only about the current situation, but also about the future. That's why they are keen on innovation. NAF believes in the combination of knowledge, practical training and collaboration.

“Through our membership in the City of Knowledge, we want to forge stronger ties with other actors in technology, mobility, community development and sustainability. It is a network we are excited to contribute to — and learn from,” says Liv Marie Bendheim.
